San Diego Revisited

Thursday, I arrived at PB Bar and Grill just in time to drink a shot with all of my pledge bros.  The night ended soon afterwards - quite abruptly, if I might add.  I did get a chance to get my boogie on, so there was that, but the music these days, I just don't get it.

Friday, we woke up at around noon, snuck into RIMAC (our age-old tradition), played ball for about 3 hours (Erick tried to cherry-pick but got outran by the ball), avoided a ticket, got some boba, rested at Stephen's until it was time for Buca di Beppo's, ogled the hostess, ate until it hurt, had some expensive cake, and afterwards, hit up DJ's where we had a grand ol' time - mainly because the owner, Paul, wasn't there.   An old, Korean "gangster" was there, though, who wanted to beat Erick's ass, but instead, took pity on him.  Outside, Patrick kept patting the "gangster" on the back while saying, "We're gonna steal your wallet."  Ha ha, poor, drunk, old man.  We probably should've felt bad for clowning him, but I didn't.

Saturday, we woke up at around noon, ate pho, and spent the rest of the day at PB and UTC.  Had dinner at Tofu House with Charles, chilled at his place until Joe arrived, then met up with some old friends at a local bar.  I tried to rally the troops for an all-niter, but all the fatties wanted were Roberto's and sleep.

It's Sunday morning.  Stephen and I just dropped Erick off at the airport, and now I'm resting up for the trip back to L.A.  I might just stay in S.D. to visit church friends, but we'll see.

Tomorrow, it'll be business as usual, but this weekend should hold me over for awhile.  Good shit, pledge bros.

It was a pretty cool weekend.  Partied it up with Stephen, Patrick and my poker buddies.  I realized that I've been going out less and less, because I almost forgot what it felt like to drink in a group, which is a good thing.

Also, I bumped into a few B-celebrities at The Home Depot this weekend.

Khandi Alexander from CSI: Miami (she's HOT!)

Shirley Manson, the lead singer of Garbage, (she's NOT hot)

last, and least, Casey Affleck - Ben Affleck's little brother (I don't swing that way.)

As you can see, going out less has made mundane experiences Xanga-worthy.

Something pretty weird just happened.  I was driving home from a bar and just as I passed another car on my left, it started to swerve recklessly.  At the next light, the car pulled up behind me.  When the light turned green, I accelerated and noticed that the driver was waiting, but after I was about 40 feet away, he sped up behind me really fast and hit the brakes just before rear-ending me.  I considered pulling over and telling the guy off, but thought it too dangerous (it was 3am and the only other cars were way on down the road), so I kept driving and figured he'd lose interest by the time I got home.  He didn't.  He followed me to my house, so I decided to drive some more until he finally does lose interest.  After driving another 4 blocks, I saw a Highway Patrol car with its lights on and two officers giving a motorist a ticket.  Just before I pulled up beside them, though, the car that was following me stopped and parked.  I got out of my truck and told the Highway Patrol officers that the guy following me was driving crazy.  They told me to keep driving and they'd pull him over when he drove by.  I circled the block and when I got back to them, they had pulled the guy over and were giving him a sobriety test.  I found out from one of the officers that the guy was drunk and failed the test.  I smiled as they put him in handcuffs, knowing that he'll be waking up to a whole world of trouble tomorrow.

Happy Chinese New Year, everybody!

Rest In Peace, Muc.  You were a great friend...

I'm currently reading a really long and boring book; "Contact", by Carl Sagan.  The only reason I haven't stopped reading it is b/c I don't want to start the bad habit of quitting when things go wrong.  It looks like it's paid off, though.  While reading "Contact" last night, I came across this passage and would like to incorporate it into my life somehow:

"The ancients who wished to illustrate illustrious virtue throughout the Kingdom first ordered well their own states.  Wishing to order well their states, they first regulated their families.  Wishing to regulate their families, they first cultivated their persons.  Wishing to cultivate their persons, they first rectified their hearts. Wishing to rectify their hearts, they first sought to be sincere in their thoughts.  Wishing to be sincere in their thoughts, they first extended to the utmost their knowledge.  Such extension of knowledge lay in the investigation of things."
